Jordan: 3 Smugglers Killed Near Eastern Military Zone

The Jordanian Armed Forces announced today, Wednesday, that "3 smugglers were killed near the eastern military zone," noting that "a member of the border guard was injured in clashes with smugglers." This comes as the latest incident in an escalation that officials accuse Iran-allied drug gangs of being responsible for. Since the beginning of the year, Jordan has intensified its airstrikes on farms and hideouts of drug traffickers within Syrian territory near the border. Clashes have occurred with hundreds of drug dealers. Jordan claims that these dealers have direct links to Iran-allied factions and are trafficking drugs, along with weapons and explosives, across its borders from Syria.
