The Arab League has called for the enhancement of health systems in Arab countries to combat cancer and to increase awareness towards adopting healthy lifestyles, early detection, and providing treatment for all, as well as developing strategies for its prevention. It emphasized the importance of conducting research, strengthening primary healthcare, and increasing financial resources dedicated to healthcare. The Assistant Secretary-General for the Social Affairs Sector at the Arab League, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, stated in a press release today, marking World Cancer Day: "The Arab League is committed, through its health-related mechanisms, particularly the Council of Arab Health Ministers, to achieving health security for the Arab citizen by working to implement the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, especially the third goal related to health." She noted that World Cancer Day aims to combat the cancer epidemic in an effort to save millions from death by increasing awareness among individuals and governments worldwide about the disease and its dangers. She underscored the importance of creating innovative strategies to ensure that everyone has access to quality healthcare and investing resources to achieve a fair and cancer-free world.
