Saudi Al-Hilal announced today, Friday, the signing of Portuguese midfielder Ruben Neves from English club Wolverhampton Wanderers. Al-Hilal posted a video on their Twitter account to welcome Neves, who donned their blue jersey, captioning it "From the den of the Wolves to the giant of Asia."
The club has not disclosed the details of the contract, but The Athletic reported earlier that the 26-year-old player will move to the Saudi league for a fee of €55 million.
Neves reflected on his time with the Wolves, saying, "Six seasons, 253 matches, a Championship title, five years in the Premier League, reaching the FA Cup semi-finals, a European adventure, and massive victories—30 goals and 13 assists, along with thousands of memories that will last forever."
He added, "A heartfelt thank you to everyone I worked with at the club and to all the players I shared this journey with over the past six years; you are lifelong friends. I take pride in wearing the captain's armband in my last two years."
