The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichai Adraee, announced the discovery of an underground tunnel system connecting northern Gaza to its southern part, extending approximately 10 kilometers and passing beneath the Turkish hospital and Al-Israa University.
He indicated that "the 162nd Division forces discovered an underground tunnel system linking the northern region of the sector to the southern part. The forces achieved operational control over the tunnel path and, after inspecting it, destroyed large parts of the system. The tunnel network connects the Turkish hospital adjacent to the central camps with Al-Israa University in southern Gaza and extends to the Zaytun area."
He stated, "This is a system used by various military wings of Hamas to transport elements between different brigades in the sector, linking the central brigade with the Gaza City brigade – including the al-Nuseirat, Sabra, and Zaytun battalions. Within the tunnel path, rooms for dormitories were found, including toilets, storage rooms for weapons and combat gear, and a system of branching tunnel openings."
