Scholz Announces Allocation of 8 Billion Euros for Arming Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that "the German budget for the upcoming year will include 8 billion euros to finance the arming of Ukraine, and 6 billion for Ukrainian refugees in Germany." This statement was made by Scholz during a joint press conference with Economy Minister Robert Habeck and Finance Minister Christian Lindner, following meetings dedicated to resolving the country's budget crisis. He stated: "We will support Ukraine from the regular budget as planned, which includes 8 billion euros for arms supplies, financial assistance for the Ukrainian budget, and possibly more than 6 billion euros to support Ukrainian refugees." For his part, Lindner mentioned that this aid involves direct assistance in addition to that provided through various European Union funds.
