Palestinian Foreign Minister: There is No Prospect for a Ceasefire in Gaza

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki stated on Wednesday that there is no prospect for a ceasefire in Gaza despite all efforts to halt the conflict. In a speech delivered remotely at the Arab Foreign Ministers' meeting held in Cairo, he added that Israel is using starvation as a weapon to pressure the population into displacement. He mentioned that "Israel considers aid as part of its pressure on the population to force them to evacuate and subsequently displace them... Palestinians have been pushed to evacuate in Rafah."

Al-Maliki referred to the situation as a war of extermination and starvation and pointed out that there is systematic destruction of Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank "with the intent to re-displace them and erase their cause." He continued, "Israel is continuing its genocidal war against the Palestinian people in the face of international impotence... Israel is waging a war of starvation, and the numbers are increasing, especially among children... Israel is obstructing all efforts by humanitarian organizations."
