While the bombing in the Gaza Strip continues, former head of Israel's internal security service (Shin Bet) Karmi Gilon believes that the war in Gaza has ended, forecasting that gunfire may cease for up to 5 or 6 years. Gilon, who led Shin Bet from 1994 to 1996, stated that Hamas has suffered a "serious blow" in this war, mentioning that the shooting could halt for up to 6 years before rocket fire from Gaza might resume, as reported by Israeli Channel 12 on Thursday. However, he noted that "the story of what happened on October 7 will not be repeated in my opinion," emphasizing that "the war is over, and the only reason for the Israeli army to remain in the field is to recover the hostages," pointing out that military pressure is the only thing that can bring them back. He criticized Israeli intelligence agencies for a massive failure to prevent the attack, asserting that "nobody imagined this would happen."
