Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani affirmed today, Sunday, that "ISIS is today a defeated organization." He stated, "The recent operations of our armed forces have proven its inability to exist even in remote areas, and the achievement of stability and the development of our forces' capabilities have strengthened the conviction of the possibility of ending the presence of the international coalition and moving towards bilateral relations."
In the context of foreign relations, he indicated that "Iraq follows a policy of balance, distancing itself from alliances and axes, and is open to developing relationships with everyone, having the capability to communicate with them, while also maintaining distinguished relations with the United States and Iran." Al-Sudani reiterated "Iraq's position rejecting the use of its territory as a battlefield for others," pointing to "the importance of intertwined interests in the region and the shift from political focus to economic focus."
