Lopez Officially Becomes Qatar's National Team Coach Until 2026

The Qatari Football Association has announced that "Spanish coach Marquez Lopez is officially the full-time coach of the national team, the Asian champions, until 2026, and both parties have signed a contract to that effect." Lopez, the former coach of Al-Wakrah SC, had taken over the Qatari national team on an interim basis last December after the departure of his predecessor, Carlos Queiroz, and led the team to win the Asian Cup for the second consecutive time after defeating the Jordanian national team in the final. The Qatari Football Association expressed its gratitude and appreciation to Al-Wakrah Sports Club for their cooperation and agreement to facilitate the appointment of coach Marquez Lopez as the national team coach in a statement. Lopez's next match as head of the technical staff of Qatar will be against the Kuwaiti national team on March 21 in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
