Minister of Displaced Persons in the caretaker government, Issam Sharafeddine, stated in an interview with "Voice of Lebanon" that "the activation of the Displaced Persons Return Committee in cabinet sessions should have started since September 2021, along with the establishment of a decisive plan to solve this crisis." He emphasized the "necessity to stop the influx from the Syrian side, which requires a political decision and repeated meetings between the Lebanese and Syrian sides." He announced that "the delay in resolving the issue is on the Lebanese side," pointing out that "the Syrian side must take responsibility and appoint officials and monitors at the border, and dismantle the networks involved in smuggling displaced persons, which benefit influential individuals both Lebanese and Syrian." He noted that "everyone is aware of the foreign collusion against us, and the Foreign Minister should have a program to counter such decisions and defend national rights, cooperating with ministers to face unjust decisions."
