The President of the Iraqi Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoon, confirmed today, Friday, that the files in the commission involve high-profile personalities, noting that the commission is working on all corruption files. In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), he said, "The commission will present its annual report on the achievements of the Integrity Commission for 2023 next Sunday, with each director of the commission announcing the achievements of their department."
Hanoon mentioned that "the Integrity Commission is not just an investigative body, but comprises various and large departments, tasked with combatting corruption from start to finish—through procedures, investigative files, preventive measures, financial disclosure of officials, transparency, and cooperation with investigative journalism."
He added that "the existing files involve significant personalities, and the commission is working on all corruption files," emphasizing "the accountability of the corrupt at this stage to the fullest extent."
He continued, "The commission completes files of corruption and evidence and sends them to the judiciary, where the investigative judge takes over the file after it is turned into a criminal case overseen by the investigative judge, after which permission is obtained from the investigative judge for apprehension, referral, conviction, or summons, all of which are judicial orders we are working on."
