Lebanese-American Coordination Committee: Extension of Security Chiefs Breaks the Cycle of Vacuum

In a notable statement regarding its timing, form, and content, the Lebanese-American Coordination Committee (LACC) considered the approval of the law to extend the terms of security leaders by the Parliament last week as a "break in the cycle of vacuum, and a fundamental step toward electing a President of the Republic with the highest possible national consensus." The statement emphasized that "Lebanese expatriates support Parliament in this effort to uphold Lebanon's sovereignty."

The LACC's statement, released simultaneously in Washington and Beirut, noted: "On December 15, Parliament broke the cycle of vacuum and preserved the military and security apparatus in Lebanon. We, the Lebanese-American Coordination Committee (LACC), support every action taken by Lebanon's representatives to ensure that there is no vacuum in state institutions."

The statement continued: "This extension of the Army Commander and security chiefs is support for all state institutions and a significant step towards restoring the regular function of the state." It also highlighted that "this break in the cycle of vacuum is a fundamental step toward electing a President of the Republic with the highest possible national consensus."

The statement concluded by reiterating that "Lebanese expatriates support Parliament in this action that upholds Lebanon's sovereignty."

It is worth noting that the Lebanese-American Coordination Committee (LACC) consists of eight American-Lebanese organizations: the American Lebanese Institute for Policy (ALPI-PAC), the Gathering for Lebanon (AFL), the Lebanese-American Renaissance Partnership (LARP), Lebanese for Lebanon (LFLF), the Lebanese Information Center (LIC), our New Lebanon (ONL), United Lebanon Shields (SOUL), the Lebanese Cultural University in the World (WLCU), along with the Civil Influence Hub (CIH) as the advisory Lebanese organization for the committee.
