Army Commander: Extension or Dismissal

Legal expert Said Malik considered that "there is a lot of confusion regarding the topic of delaying the dismissal, extending, or appointing a new army commander. Therefore, today there is a possibility of delaying the dismissal, which falls under the authority of the Minister of Defense. As for extension, that is within the authority of the Parliament through amending Article 56 of the Defense Law. The appointment is the government’s authority according to the provisions of Article 65 of the Constitution, related to Article 19 of the Defense Law." Regarding raising the retirement age in the military, Malik pointed out in a conversation with "Wardina" that "this is possible, but it requires a legislative session and a parliamentary vote to be enacted into law, making it executable, which could help resolve the current outstanding issue."
