Teenagers Kill Teacher Over Grades

Two American teenagers in Iowa confessed to beating their 66-year-old teacher to death due to receiving low grades. Willard Miller (17) and Jeremy Goodale (18) admitted to attacking their Spanish teacher at Fairfield High School, Hiema Graber, with a baseball bat until she died.

The incident dates back to 2021, when the boys concealed the teacher's body in a park near the school, before police were able to discover it. Investigators stated that "the incident occurred the day after Miller met with Graber to discuss his grades."

After the meeting, Graber drove her car to the park where she walked daily. According to witnesses, she left after less than an hour with two boys.

Miller and Goodale confessed to committing the murder but provided differing accounts. Miller claimed he "went to the park knowing Goodale had planned to kill the teacher," but denied hitting her, stating he was just watching. Conversely, Goodale stated he "was only watching and that Miller was the one who struck Graber on the back of the head." He added that he "delivered the second blow after seeing the first one did not kill her."

The newspaper "USA Today" reported that "the prosecutor will ask the judge to sentence Miller to between 30 years and life in prison, with the possibility of parole. For Goodale, the prosecution will request a sentence ranging from 25 years to life, also with the possibility of parole."
