One of the senior aides to former Prime Minister Imran Khan stated today, Saturday, that "the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party will seek to form the government after winning the largest number of seats in the general elections held on Thursday." He called for "respect for the mandate received by the party" and warned in a press conference in Islamabad of organizing a peaceful protest tomorrow, Sunday, if the full results are not announced by this evening. Both Khan and his competitor, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, have declared victory in the elections. Independent candidates supported by Khan won the largest number of seats, despite him being in jail and his party being banned from participating in the elections.
