Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin announced the release of 12 Thai detainees from the Gaza Strip as part of a prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas. Thavisin wrote on the social media platform X: "Security agencies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the release of 12 Thai captives." According to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 39 Thais have been killed and 26 others captured as a result of an attack by Hamas on settlements adjacent to Gaza. Before the outbreak of war in Gaza, there were about 30,000 Thai citizens in Israel, with approximately 8,000 wishing to leave the country and return home through evacuation flights. Meanwhile, the Egyptian News Agency reported that Egyptian authorities are preparing to receive 25 Israeli and foreign detainees from Gaza at the Rafah crossing to subsequently transfer them to Israel. Diaa Rashwan, head of the General Authority for Information, clarified that Egypt will deliver 25 detainees from Gaza, including 12 Thai nationals and 13 women and children from Israel.
