Barcelona president Joan Laporta expressed his hope that coach Xavi Hernandez will reconsider his intention to leave the Catalan team at the end of the current season. In statements to the newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Laporta stated that he "wishes Xavi will change his mind and remain as the head coach of the Catalan team." He emphasized that he "will not pressure Xavi, as it depends solely on him. He knows my desire for him to stay here, and we will see what happens at the end of the season."
Xavi announced his departure at the end of the current season following a heavy loss to Villarreal in La Liga with a score of (3-5) on January 27. Since then, the Catalan team has played 10 matches in La Liga and the Champions League, achieving 7 victories, 3 draws, and remaining unbeaten. Barcelona currently occupies the second position in the La Liga standings with 64 points after 29 rounds.
