Employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), who are threatened with dismissal, issued a statement to the public in which they expressed their complete rejection of the accusations directed at them. The statement said: "We express our deep astonishment at the decision that speaks of our dismissal from our jobs at UNRWA, based on a false claim from the Israeli occupying forces, alleging our participation in the events of October 7, 2023."
It added: "In this regard, we would like to reaffirm our noble educational mission, for which we have dedicated the best years of our lives. We fully reject these unfounded accusations and any decisions based on these incorrect claims."
The statement continued: "We assure that what is being circulated in the media and the publication of our images in this context is nothing but lies. We call on the United Nations and the administration of UNRWA to conduct an immediate and urgent investigation regarding this matter and to provide evidence that the occupation claims we participated in the events of October 7, 2023, which we categorically deny."
The statement concluded: "We call upon our Palestinian people, their bodies, institutions, and unions, to stand in solidarity with our just cause until this injustice and these incorrect allegations are removed."
