Bahrain and the UAE Agree to Launch a Bilateral Traffic Systems Link

The interior ministries of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to launch a bilateral traffic systems link, marking the first such project between the two countries. This agreement was reached during a meeting held by the joint security committee of both nations in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi, chaired by the Chief of Public Security of Bahrain, Major General Tareq bin Hassan Al Hassan, and the Assistant Undersecretary of the Emirati Ministry of Interior, Major General Khaleefa bin Harib Al Kheili. The meeting was a continuation of the first meeting held in September 2022.

During the committee's meeting, the two parties also agreed to expedite the development of a data exchange system, including deportees' biometrics and unidentified fingerprints, as part of a Gulf technology framework that aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

Major General Tareq bin Hassan Al Hassan praised the efforts made to provide advanced security services to citizens of both countries within the GCC framework. He expressed gratitude for the efforts of the working teams that led to the launch of the bilateral traffic systems link, pointing out that this achievement reflects the level of cooperation and coordination between the two countries. It transforms the desire of both sides for development and modernization into a practical reality that achieves mutual benefit and contributes to enhancing cooperation and coordination specifically in traffic matters and generally in security fields.

For his part, Major General Khaleefa bin Harib Al Kheili affirmed the deep relations between the two countries and commended the efforts of the technical teams from both nations in completing the bilateral traffic systems link project, which will enhance joint security cooperation and coordination.
