"The Asaad Movement": The Overall Scene Does Not Indicate Any Progress in the Presidential File

The Secretary-General of the "Asaad Movement", lawyer Maan Al-Asaad, stated in a press release that the overall local, regional, and international scene—politically, militarily, security-wise, and economically—does not indicate any progress or development in the Lebanese presidential file. He emphasized the ruling political class's inability to make any decision regarding the presidential entitlement. Al-Asaad remarked that relying on the upcoming visit of French envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian to Lebanon is not encouraging and is misplaced, as it has become a burden and his role has become marginal with no positive impact, following the decisions made at the five-party summit in Doha. Al-Asaad also considered that the start of gas exploration marks the beginning of the end for the political and financial class, as there will be no place for them in power in the upcoming phase. He stated that survival in the era of oil and gas requires security, institutional, political, administrative stability, and a return to the concepts of state, nation, and proper citizenship.
