President Sisi: The Situation in Gaza Cannot Await Further Delay for a Ceasefire

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi affirmed during his meeting with a delegation from the UK Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, led by MP Alicia Kearns, that "a permanent and just solution to the tensions in the Middle East lies in establishing an independent Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy." The official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, Ahmed Fahmy, noted that the British delegation was keen to hear President Sisi's perspective on regional conditions, particularly in the Gaza Strip.

He indicated that President Sisi presented updates on Egyptian efforts to reach an agreement on a ceasefire in Gaza, the exchange of detainees, and the implementation of humanitarian aid for the area. Furthermore, President Sisi emphasized the international community's fundamental responsibility to protect Palestinians from the humanitarian disaster they are facing, highlighting Egypt's role in mobilizing and delivering relief aid through the Rafah border crossing, as well as aerial deliveries to areas severely affected by the conflict in northern Gaza. Sisi stressed that the humanitarian situation in Gaza cannot tolerate any further delays in reaching decisive solutions for a ceasefire.
