Iraq Announces Preliminary Results of Provincial Council Elections

The Independent High Electoral Commission announced today, Tuesday, the preliminary results of the provincial council elections held yesterday, Monday. The head of the commission, Omar Ahmed, stated in a press conference that "the announced results represent 94.4% of the total results," indicating that the commission "fulfilled the constitutional obligation of conducting provincial council elections." Ahmed expressed gratitude to "the Prime Minister for his personal follow-up on the needs of the commission."

The head of the electoral department confirmed during the conference that "the total number of voters exceeded 6 million with a participation rate of 41%," noting that "231 polling stations are under review."

The Taqaddum Alliance achieved the first place in Baghdad, followed by the Nabni Alliance in second place, while the State of Law Coalition came in third. A Reuters tally of the preliminary results showed that the ruling Shiite coalition parties in Iraq collectively received the largest share of votes in Baghdad and most of the southern provinces in the provincial council elections.

In Wasit province, the "Wasit is Beautiful" list received the highest votes with 93,837 votes. In Qadisiyyah province, the Nabni Alliance secured the first position with 54,488 votes, while the State of Law Coalition came in second. The Nabni Alliance also took the first place in Najaf province with 42,099 votes.

In Anbar province, the Taqaddum Alliance ranked first with 154,733 votes. In Kirkuk, the "Kirkuk is Our Power and Will" alliance came in first with 139,373 votes. In Diyala, the "Diyalatna National" alliance topped the results with 97,185 votes. In Karbala, the "Creative Karbala" alliance secured the first position with 99,166 votes. The Nabni Alliance achieved the first position in Babel with 79,611 votes.

In Basra, the "Determination" alliance came first with 266,999 votes. The Nabni Alliance also ranked first in Dhi Qar with 73,238 votes, and in Maysan, it took first place with 51,101 votes. In Al-Qadisiyyah, the State of Law Coalition was first with 46,750 votes. In Salah al-Din province, the National Peoples Coalition received 122,305 votes.

In Nineveh, "Nineveh for its People" ranked first with 141,749 votes, while the Kurdistan Democratic Party came in second with 127,938 votes. The members of the commission announced the election results as follows:
