"America should threaten to sink Iranian ships if the Houthis continue to attack U.S. forces in the Red Sea," this is the request made by Dan Sullivan, a Republican senator from Alaska, to President Joe Biden. In a letter sent to the American president, the Republican senator stated that the Iranian-backed group, classified as a terrorist organization by the United States, has not stopped targeting commercial ships despite numerous U.S. strikes aimed at destroying their capabilities. Today, I sent a letter to @POTUS urging him: Tell Iran that the next Houthi missile/drone launched at an American ship will result in the sinking of Iran’s spy ships that target our Navy. These terrorists are trying to kill U.S. sailors, and at some point, they might succeed.…— Sen. Dan Sullivan (@SenDanSullivan) March 15, 2024. He considered that the only way to stop Houthi attacks is to make Iran understand that it will face direct consequences for its support. He also believes that Tehran should know that any missile or drone launched by the Houthis at any American ship will lead to the sinking of its spy vessels. He emphasized that they must realize they will pay the price. This message comes as attacks by the Iranian-backed Yemeni group on U.S. ships in this vital maritime corridor, through which 12% of global trade passes, are increasing. Many observers affirm that Houthi strikes on ships cannot occur without guidance and intelligence from Iranian vessels present in the region, including Behshad and Saviz.
