Jumblatt Meets Klaus and Emphasizes the Importance of UNRWA's Duties

The head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, met in Maarab with the Director-General of UNRWA Affairs in Lebanon, Dorothée Klaus, to discuss the latest developments regarding Lebanon and the region, particularly matters related to UNRWA, in the presence of the External Relations Officer, Mark Saad. Geagea welcomed the role UNRWA plays in Lebanon concerning humanitarian coverage that no other group addresses. He expressed surprise at "some people's inclination to halt the work of this organization, which is necessary and vital to maintaining its activities in ensuring stability and reinforcing Palestinians' right to return to their country, especially amid the growing discourse about the necessity of establishing a Palestinian state." He urged everyone in Lebanon, especially the Lebanese government, to clarify the importance of UNRWA's ongoing work in Lebanon, noting that this serves their interest. Geagea affirmed to Klaus the Lebanese Forces' strong support for this direction and their commitment to shaping this issue.
