Five Chinese nationals and their Pakistani driver were killed on Tuesday in a suicide bombing targeting their vehicle in northwest Pakistan, police reported. Muhammad Ali Ghandabour, a senior police official in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, told AFP, "Five Chinese and their local driver were killed in the attack." The five Chinese had just left the site of the Dasu hydropower project, which is being overseen by a Chinese team, when their vehicle was bombed in the city of Bisham, the source stated. In July 2021, nine Chinese nationals were killed in a bombing that targeted a bus transporting engineers, surveyors, and mechanics working at the same site. For a long time, the safety of Chinese personnel working on various infrastructure projects in Pakistan has been a concern for Beijing, which has invested billions of dollars in the country in recent years.
