Kyiv: Drones and Russian Missiles Target Critical Infrastructure in Ukraine

Ukrainian air forces reported today, Sunday, that Russia launched drone and missile attacks targeting civilian and critical infrastructure across the country. The air forces added on the Telegram app that initial information did not indicate any fatalities or injuries from the attacks. Both Russia and Ukraine have intensified mutual aerial assaults in recent months, targeting important military infrastructure as well as energy and transportation infrastructure.

The air forces noted that Russia attacked the Poltava region in central Ukraine with two ballistic missiles from the Iskander system and fired three surface-to-air missiles at the Donetsk region in the east. Ukrainian Poltava Governor Filip Bronin stated on Telegram that Russian missiles hit an industrial site in the city of Kremenchuk, causing a fire. Photos shared on social media showed emergency teams battling the blaze.

In the southeastern Zaporizhia region, Governor Yuri Malashko reported that an infrastructure site was shelled in a drone attack. Emergency teams are present at the site, but Malashko did not provide details about the damage or casualties. The air forces confirmed that defense systems shot down four out of eight drones launched by Russia last night. Reuters has not independently verified the reports, and there has been no comment from Russia yet.
