Members of the "National Accord" bloc, including MPs Faisal Karami, Taha Naji, Hassan Murad, Mohammed Yahi, and Adnan Traboulsi, met with a delegation from the "National Moderation" bloc, consisting of MPs Ahmad Al-Khair, Abdul Aziz Al-Samad, Walid Al-Baarini, and former MP Hadi Habesh at the home of the late President Omar Karami in Beirut to discuss the presidential initiative proposed by the National Moderation bloc.
After the meeting, National Accord bloc member MP Adnan Traboulsi stated: "We listened to our colleagues regarding the details of this initiative, which aims primarily at dialogue and discussions among parliamentary blocs and fellow MPs regarding finding a solution to the presidential vacancy crisis through dialogue. We, as a bloc, believe that this dialogue is the only means for consensus and to overcome crises."
He added: "We view this initiative positively, and of course, we have some questions that we raised during the meeting. As the National Accord bloc, we will discuss among ourselves and continue communication with our colleagues in the National Moderation bloc, and God willing, we will all strive for an agreement to elect a President of the Republic who will restore order to political work and constitutional processes."
Traboulsi emphasized that "it is essential to always remember that Lebanon is a country of dialogue, and every responsible Lebanese is invited to strive for dialogue. What the Moderation bloc has done is commendable, and we must provide the necessary conditions and supportive atmosphere for the success of this dialogue, as Lebanon cannot afford further failures at the political and national levels."
