The Free Patriotic Movement Reiterates Its Readiness for Any

The "Free Patriotic Movement" reiterated during its regular meeting chaired by the head of the movement, MP Gebran Bassil, its firm position based on a positive readiness to participate in any dialogue that quickly leads to practical results culminating in the election of a president for the republic. The movement specified that the nature of this dialogue should not be traditional but rather practical and effective, and it could take various forms, whether bilateral or multi-party. The agenda should be limited to the terms of the presidency program (presidential priorities) and the specifications and name of the president. Participation is linked to guarantees that this dialogue will conclude with open parliamentary sessions for electing the president that do not stop until the election occurs. The movement awaits necessary responses from those calling for this dialogue to determine its final position based on these responses.

The movement warned of a new wave of displacement from Syria towards Lebanon due to the poor economic conditions there, emphasizing that this wave is purely economic and that the displaced are entirely economic migrants. It stated that the Lebanese state should not accept them for known economic, humanitarian, and national reasons. Thus, the Free Patriotic Movement requests that the government and relevant security agencies take responsibility and completely close the borders, both legal and illegal, to prevent the entry of any displaced persons into Lebanon, whether old or new. Any shortcomings in this regard will hold those responsible accountable for a national crime committed against Lebanon.

The political council congratulated the movement's head on the renewal of confidence in him for a third term and also congratulated the deputy heads. The head of the movement announced the program for the new term and the vision of the movement, which is based on "an active movement, a capable society, and a unique entity." The celebration for the start of the new term and the assumption of duties by the new deputy heads will take place on September 17.
