The Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations announced the evacuation of more than 10,000 people, half of whom are children, across seven regions due to flooding caused by the rapid melting of snow. The ministry stated in a press release that "10,587 people have been evacuated, including 5,101 children, in the regions of Turkistan, Aktobe, Kostanay, West Kazakhstan, Akmola, Almaty, and Abai, while 5,497 people are in temporary accommodation centers, including 1,739 children." Earlier, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektinov confirmed that "the current floods affecting the country are the largest in recent years."
