Four Family Members Killed in New York

Authorities reported that a man armed with a knife killed four members of his extended family, including two children, in a home in the Queens area of New York City on Sunday before being shot dead by police. The New York City Police Department stated that a girl called to report the incident, indicating that "a relative is killing family members." The police added in a statement to reporters that the 38-year-old suspect stabbed two police officers who responded to the scene, prompting one of the officers to shoot him, resulting in his death. It was reported that the suspect had previously been arrested for a domestic violence incident. The injured officers were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The police stated that the four individuals stabbed to death were a 12-year-old boy, an 11-year-old girl, a 44-year-old woman, and a man in his thirties. They added that the 11-year-old girl was found outside the house, while the other three victims were located inside the bedrooms. The police clarified that a fifth person, a 61-year-old woman, was also stabbed and is currently hospitalized in critical condition. They further noted that the suspect had set a couch on fire in the living room, which forced police officers to wait for firefighters to arrive before entering the home.
