The Iraqi Federal Integrity Commission announced on Friday the arrest of "5 employees from the Electricity Distribution Directorate in Diyala Province for their involvement in stealing materials from a project." The Commission stated in a statement that the "investigation and control team from the Diyala Investigation Office, in coordination with the Electricity Police, successfully apprehended five engineers and workers from the Electricity Distribution Directorate in Diyala, based on their organization of "exit papers" for electrical materials from a project in the province." It highlighted that "the materials included large reels, wires, poles, cups, and other items."
The Commission added that "the team managed, during the operation carried out based on a judicial warrant, to seize the materials that had been taken out from a garden belonging to one of the contractors, as well as the poles and wires that the accused intended to cut and sell in local markets." It noted that "a formal control report was organized and presented along with the defendants and the seized evidences before the judge of the specialized integrity court in Diyala to take legal actions against them."
