Ben Gvir: Biden Prefers Sinwar Over Netanyahu

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir criticized U.S. President Joe Biden amid deteriorating relations between the two countries, stating that Biden "prefers the line of Yahya Sinwar over the line of Benjamin Netanyahu." In an interview with The New York Times, Ben Gvir said that "Biden favors the line of Palestinian-American Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, over the line of Netanyahu and Ben Gvir." He added, "I expected the U.S. president not to follow their line but to follow ours," stating, "The American president is very wrong." Ben Gvir clarified that Biden has continuously sought to impose restrictions on Israel and has spoken about the rights of the other side, which includes many terrorists who want to destroy us, in his words. The relationship between Israel and the United States is experiencing unprecedented tension in the history of the ally's relationship, particularly in light of the ongoing war in Gaza since October 7. The United States refrained from using its veto in the Security Council regarding a ceasefire in Gaza, which sparked widespread discontent in Israel. In response, Israel canceled a scheduled visit this week by Israeli officials and senior advisors to Netanyahu to Washington.
