Frangieh from Bkerki: I Am Not Gray... This Is What I Can Do!

Suleiman Frangieh, the head of the "Mardah" party, visited the patriarchal edifice in Bkerki to meet with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi. After the meeting, he stated: "We are fundamentally with the Taif Agreement, and we are fundamentalists in it and with its full implementation." He added: "I have not announced my candidacy, but I have said that I am considered for the presidency, and I have never stood as an obstacle, knowing that what happened last time was not Christian unity but unity against us," emphasizing that "Christianity is humility, openness, forgiveness, and dialogue."

Frangieh continued: "I come from a political background, and all those proposed are centrist in form but have their political backgrounds. I do not consider my political history to be an obstacle because I am not gray and I have a stance." Regarding recent judicial developments, he saw that "the judiciary has become politicized in all directions, and I previously warned about this from the pulpit in Diman."

On another note, he said: "I am for adopting the best relations with Arab countries, particularly with Saudi Arabia, and I will work on a realistic defense strategy within dialogue with everyone. I am capable of taking from the resistance what no other candidate can take, as well as from Syria."

He considered that "foreign countries ruin countries for their own projects, and the fear is that if they ruin it this time, it cannot be rebuilt, and the greatest loss will be on the Christian level."
