Shocking News: Murray Suffers Injury That Could End His Career

Scottish player Andy Murray has announced that he will be sidelined for an extended period due to a serious ankle injury sustained during his exit from the Miami Open. The 36-year-old Murray played his last match in Miami last Sunday, where he lost to Czech player Tomáš Macháč with scores of 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 in the third round. At 5-5 in the third set, Murray appeared to be significantly affected by a sprain in his left ankle, dropping his racquet on the court before heading to his seat looking dejected.

Murray stated on his Instagram account: "Towards the end of the match in Miami, I suffered a complete tear of the anterior ankle ligament and a nearly complete tear of the posterior ligament. This is difficult to deal with, and I will be out for a long time."

The former world number one and three-time Grand Slam winner previously mentioned that he plans to retire and end his remarkable career after the summer, though he hopes to participate in the Olympics again. Wimbledon, which he has won twice, starts on July 1, and the Paris 2024 Olympics will commence later that same month.

Murray added, "I will see a specialist in ankle injuries when I return to my country to determine the next steps."
