Former Mufti Ali Gomaa Sparks Controversy Again

Former Egyptian Mufti Ali Gomaa responded to a question from an individual about electronic marriage, where the couple is in different countries, clarifying that this is permissible provided there is complete documentation. During Gomaa's television program, one of the attendees asked, "Is electronic marriage permissible when one spouse is in one country, the other in another, and the officiant is in yet another country?" The former mufti answered: "Yes, this is permissible under one condition, which is complete documentation, because artificial intelligence has raised doubts about documentation, as it may present a different body and appearance." He added, "If things get mixed up and we cannot achieve complete documentation, then there is no need for that to avoid issues of fraud and deception."
