The disaster management unit team in the municipal union of Tyre, led by Mortada Mahna, was assaulted for the third consecutive time, facing physical violence, insults, and an attack on the unit's center from both displaced individuals and non-displaced individuals. The most recent incident occurred yesterday, Friday, when a non-displaced woman attacked Mahna and also physically assaulted and insulted the operations room team.
In detail, the woman claimed that her displaced relatives had not received assistance like other displaced individuals in the region. When the team presented the files and clarified that her relatives had indeed received aid and benefits, the woman lashed out at the team, making false claims, fabricating accusations, using vulgar language, and damaging the equipment in the center, ultimately leading to her physically attacking the team, who tried to avoid confrontation considering she was a woman. The woman showed no regard for the situation and when a complaint was filed against her, she fabricated a different scenario and accused the team of assaulting her.
In light of these events, the president of the Tyre municipal union, Hassan Debouk, announced the closure of the operations room of the disaster unit until "clarifications are made and to stop the assaults on the team, which has worked tirelessly since the outbreak of war, welcoming all displaced individuals and addressing their needs diligently." Mahna confirmed that "this hard work did not receive gratitude but rather assaults," asserting that "the facts are clear and displaced individuals attest to their good treatment and support without complaints," calling on the judiciary to "reveal the truth, hold the aggressors accountable, and respect the sanctity of this work, preventing any aggression towards the place."
