The Russian "Proton-M" rocket carrying the Angolan satellite Angosat-2, designed by Russian specialists, has been transported to Baikonur Airport, where it is undergoing final tests. This was reported on Sunday, October 9, by a spokesman for the Russian space agency "Roscosmos," stating that the rocket has been vertically installed on launch pad 81 at Baikonur spaceport. Specialists at "Roscosmos" have begun work according to the schedule for the first day leading up to the rocket's launch.
Earlier, the Russian newspaper "Sputnik Siberia," published by the agency, reported that the rocket is scheduled for launch on October 12. The Angosat-2 satellite weighs 2,000 kilograms and was produced by the Russian company "Information Satellite Systems." The satellite is expected to serve for 15 years. It is noteworthy that the first Angolan satellite, Angosat-1, was launched in December 2017, but communication was lost four months later.
