Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has apologized for his recent post and statements in which he placed responsibility on security and intelligence agencies concerning the events of October 7. In a post on the social media platform "X," Netanyahu wrote: "I was wrong; what I said after the press conference should not have been said, and I apologize for that." He expressed his full support for all heads of security branches, leaders, and soldiers on the front lines, adding: "Together we will win."
Earlier, Netanyahu deleted a post he made early Sunday morning in which he blamed the heads of the Shin Bet and military intelligence for overlooking the "Operation Al-Aqsa Flood" launched by Hamas, following widespread criticism aimed at him.
In the deleted post from his official page on "X," Netanyahu reiterated his denial of having received warnings about an imminent attack planned by Hamas before October 7, stating, "Contrary to false claims, under no circumstances was the Prime Minister warned of Hamas's intent to go to war." He added that all intelligence agencies believed that Hamas was deterred due to previous wars and was heading towards a settlement. He noted that this assessment was presented repeatedly to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet by all security and intelligence agencies even before the outbreak of the war.
