Former head of the Progressive Socialist Party Walid Jumblatt met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Deputy Foreign Minister for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov in Moscow. The meeting included discussions on international and regional conditions, attended by Mrs. Nora Jumblatt, former Minister Ghazi Al-Arydhi, Dr. Halim Bou Fakher Al-Din, and the Lebanese Ambassador to Russia Shauqi Abu Nassar.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that "during the conversation, they exchanged in-depth views on the crisis in the Middle East." Lavrov emphasized the unacceptability of further escalation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the involvement of other countries in the region, especially Lebanon. At the same time, he reaffirmed Russia's consistent support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Lebanon.
They also paid special attention to the internal political situation in Lebanon, stressing the need for the Lebanese themselves to find timely solutions to pressing national issues based on mutual agreement and without foreign intervention. Both sides highlighted the importance of gradually continuing to develop the traditional friendly and multi-dimensional relations between Russia and Lebanon.
