The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported today, Saturday, that one of its patrols came under Israeli fire near the town of Ayta Ashab in southern Lebanon, with no injuries reported. UNIFIL condemned the attack on its peacekeepers and described it as "extremely concerning." In a statement, it reminded the parties of their commitments to protect peacekeeping forces and to avoid putting at risk the men and women working to restore stability.
