Iran's envoy to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, confirmed that Iranian military advisors in Syria are present at the official invitation of the Syrian government "to combat terrorism." He emphasized that his country has no military presence in Iraq, nor any bases or military advisors, stating: "In Syria, Iranian military advisors are present legally at the request of the Syrian government to combat terrorism."
During a Security Council meeting on "Threats to International Peace and Security," he noted that "American military attacks on Syria and Iraq represent a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and political independence of these countries." He added that "the U.S. and Britain clearly exploit Security Council resolution 2722," indicating that "all resistance factions in the region are independent, and their decisions and actions are based on their legitimate rights under international law, in response to the illegal American presence in their territories and to stop the massacre in Gaza. Any attempt to link these attacks to Iran or its armed forces is misleading, baseless, and rejected."
