Witnesses reported hearing several loud explosions on Friday evening in the Deir ez-Zor countryside in northeastern Syria, resulting from a drone strike, believed to be American, on a truck owned by Iran-aligned militias. Informed sources indicated that the targeted truck had entered Syrian territory from Iraq through the Al-Bukamal crossing in eastern Deir ez-Zor. There were no immediate reports of casualties, but local sources noted that the explosions were intense and consecutive, indicating that the truck was likely loaded with ammunition. The militias aligned with Iran established a security cordon around the attack site.
This marks the second such attack within 24 hours, as a drone had previously targeted a refrigerated truck belonging to the Iran-aligned militias in the village of Al-Hari in the Al-Bukamal countryside early Friday morning, after it crossed into Syria with several other trucks from Iraq. U.S. forces did not immediately claim responsibility for either attack, but it is believed that the drones targeting the trucks were operated by the U.S. military, which has strengthened its positions in northeastern Syria. On Friday, a coalition cargo plane landed at the Al-Hasakah's "Kharab al-Jir" base, coming from Iraq and reportedly carrying military and logistical equipment.
