The U.S. Supreme Court granted a significant victory to Donald Trump today, Monday, as he continues his campaign to return to the presidency. The Court decided to prevent U.S. states from disqualifying candidates for federal office under a constitutional clause regarding rebellion, thus overturning a previous court ruling that had excluded him from competing in Colorado. The justices unanimously annulled a Colorado Supreme Court decision from December 19, which barred Trump from participating in the Republican primary vote in the state scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday. The Colorado Supreme Court judges had concluded that the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution disqualified him from holding public office again, asserting that Trump engaged in rebellion by inciting and supporting the attack by his supporters on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Trump remains the frontrunner for the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic President Joe Biden in the upcoming elections scheduled for November 5. His only remaining rival for the Republican nomination is former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley. The ruling came on the eve of Super Tuesday, when primaries are held in most states. Trump wrote on his social media platform immediately after the ruling: "Big win for America!!!"
