Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri extended his congratulations to all Lebanese and particularly to Muslims on the occasion of Ramadan, saying: "With the arrival of the month of goodness and blessings, the month of God, this year we are invited to seek the sighting of the crescent moon of this blessed month on the ground before looking for it in the sky, through the eyes of our people in the southern border villages with occupied Palestine, in resilience, effort, and sacrifice until martyrdom, and through the eyes of children, women, and elderly on the sands of Gaza Strip." He added: "We are also invited, as well as Muslims in the East and West, during this holy month to remember, before recalling the hunger and thirst of the Day of Judgment, the hunger, thirst, oppression, displacement, and extermination of the Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank, and the surrounding areas of Jerusalem from a humanitarian, faith-based, and ethical perspective." Berri concluded, saying: "Let this Ramadan, which coincides with the Lent of noble Christian communities, be a fasting to draw closer to God in word and deed, by empathizing with the pain of our people in the south and the suffering of our brothers in Palestine, its people, and its sanctities. From there, the crescent moon of our fasting should be sought, and from there, the nation’s faith, humanity, belonging, and identity are tested: are we active, and do we accept deeds?"
