The Syrian Social Nationalist Party stated in a statement that "in light of the developments of the war and the impossibility of separating a part of Lebanon from its other regions, and in respect for the residents of the southern cities and towns, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party believes that holding the municipal and optional elections at such a time may not achieve the intended developmental and administrative goals." The statement also mentioned, "While the party prefers to conduct essential referendums, including municipal and optional elections, under a complete authority and with the presence of a President of the Republic, it calls upon the Parliament to take a decision to postpone based on these compelling reasons, to a later date that ensures greater security and political stability."
