Social media has circulated a terrifying Hollywood-like scene of California's coast being hit by fierce tsunami waves due to storms in the Pacific, prompting authorities to evacuate northern parts of the state due to flooding. Videos being shared show moments of people fleeing from the waters that chase and engulf them.
California is preparing for waves reaching 30 feet high with multiple rounds of rain and strong winds throughout this week, amid meteorologists' forecasts that the risks will become "deadly."
According to the British newspaper "Daily Mail," the U.S. Weather Service has issued warnings about dangerously high waves and life-threatening currents starting tonight in the San Francisco Bay area. Meteorologists expect the water-related risks to become lethal, with waves reaching 30 feet on the northwestern and western beaches in the region.
Officials have urged beachgoers to stay away from the water and be cautious of the colossal waves, especially on west-facing beaches, and to steer clear of rocks and coastal piers. The National Weather Service (NWS) has also warned of another round of heavy rain in the area starting early Friday morning until midday Saturday. Additionally, the agency cautioned that the high waves (extremely dangerous) could easily sweep people away from rocks and piers.
