Lebanese taekwondo champion and "Mon La Salle" club member Leticia Aoun has qualified for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris, which will be held from July 26 to August 11, after successfully competing in the final qualifiers held in China. Aoun, who has won numerous colorful medals during her distinguished taekwondo career, secured her spot in the Paris Olympics by competing in the under-57 kg category, winning in the semi-finals against Philippine athlete Baby Jessica Kanabal, thus guaranteeing her Olympic qualification.
Following her qualification, Dr. Habib Zreifa, President of the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation, contacted Aoun to congratulate her on behalf of the Lebanese taekwondo family, noting that he had closely followed the preparations and matches of the Lebanese team throughout the finals. Additionally, Jihad Salama, President of the "Mon La Salle" club, also reached out to congratulate Aoun on her achievement on behalf of the club's family.
During the qualifiers, Lebanon also earned a bronze medal through player Ray Al-Ra'i (over 80 kg) and another bronze medal by player Ward Salman (over 67 kg). It is noteworthy that Lebanese taekwondo has achieved significant accomplishments, particularly in recent years, with athletes from the Cedar nation rising to the podium in various national, regional, continental, and international competitions, making it one of the sports that elevates Lebanon's name on high.
