Ahram Studio... Who Will Bear the Cost of Reconstruction?

While the incident of the fire at Ahram Studio occupies the attention of Egyptians and raises numerous questions, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced, "The government will bear the full cost of restoring things to their original state before the fire, including the damaged homes and compensating the affected individuals." During his visit to the fire site yesterday, Saturday, he stated that everything would be restored to its original condition, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the structural safety of the buildings. He called for an immediate emergency committee formed by approved contracting companies from Giza Governorate to assess the extent of the damage and prepare engineering estimates that ensure the necessary time and cost to restore the buildings to their pre-fire condition. The Prime Minister also directed the payment of 15,000 Egyptian pounds as an advance to the families whose homes were affected, as rental compensation for several upcoming months, equivalent to the rental value in their area, until the buildings are rehabilitated and returned to their original state. He also instructed the civil registry to issue alternative national ID cards for those who lost them in the fire and called for regular follow-ups from officials on the ground.
