The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division reported that "as part of the efforts to combat illegal hunting and to protect nature and the migratory birds passing over Lebanon, as well as to maintain environmental balance, patrols from the Zgharta police station in the regional gendarmerie unit are moving between the mountains of Trablus and Hailan, which are among the busiest migratory bird pathways. This is to monitor hunters who violate hunting regulations, especially during this time of year when birds are breeding.
On 01/03/2024, elements from the Ramileh police station under Zgharta observed two individuals in the area of Dhour Hailan, who were in possession of two hunting rifles and a quantity of 12 mm shells, without finding any game. They were arrested, and it was revealed that their names are:
- A. A. (born in 1999, Lebanese)
- T. B. (born in 2003, Lebanese)
Legal action was taken against them, and the two rifles and the cartridges were seized based on the instructions of the competent judiciary. The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces requests citizens to not hesitate to participate in the fight against illegal hunting operations and violations against migratory birds by reporting offenders if seen, either by documenting violations with photos or videos and sending them via the "Baalgh" service for follow-up, or by contacting the operations room at the number 112."
