Erdogan Hopes to Attract Investments to Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hopes to reach investment agreements with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE during his visit to those Gulf countries next week. In an interview published by Turkish media on Thursday, he stated that "these investments could be carried out in Turkey or in any of those three countries."

On another note, Turkey expects all of its allies in NATO to lift sanctions and restrictions imposed on the Turkish defense sector. Erdogan was quoted as saying upon his return from the NATO summit in Lithuania that "Turkish ministers will hold further discussions with their American counterparts regarding the purchase of F-16 fighter jets."

Erdogan also mentioned that "the European Union leaders he met had a positive stance regarding reviving Turkey's accession efforts to the EU." He added, "After the positive steps we have seen from the EU, we will start working on implementing the promises we made," following his unexpected agreement to submit Sweden's request to join NATO to the Turkish parliament.
